With no disrespect to the person that stated there are only three names of angels in the Bible, there are actually only two mentioned by name. The proper name "Lucifer" never appears in the Hebrew scriptures, most noticeably at Isaiah 14:12 in the KJV. The original Hebrew word depicts "a shining one" and not a personal name.

That being said, although there are millions of spirit creatures in heaven, the Bible reveals the names of only Michael and Gabriel. This may serve as a safeguard against our giving angels undue honor. In the book of Daniel, even Gabriel deferred to Michael in the battle with the angel of the king of Persia. Michael also battles with the dragon and leads the angels in the battle of armageddon. This clearly makes Michael the CHIEF angel in heaven.

So why aren't more angels named in scripture? Because they, like us, should and would never desire worship for themselves which, when named, would allow for the sin of pride. Three scriptural indications are available to understand this point.

1) Judges 13:17, 18—When Samson’s parents asked an angel for his name, he withheld it, saying: “Just why should you ask about my name, when it is a wonderful one?”
2) Revelation 22:8, 9—When the apostle John fell down to worship before an angel, he was admonished: “Be careful! Do not do that! All I am is a fellow slave of you and of your brothers.”
3) Matthew 4:8-10—Jesus has the final word: Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their glory and said: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me." We all know what Jesus' response was to that.

So clearly, nothing is written in scripture that would detract from worship of our Heavenly Father. The two angels named are done so at critical junctures in time and are there for our instruction and enlightenment.

So to sum up: Only two angels and no more. I encourage you to do a personal research project on the significant events those two angels were (and will be) a part of! Hope this answer helps!

Only three angels are ever named in the Bible.  The first is Lucifer, who fell.  The other two are Gabriel and Michael. Gabriel seems to be the messenger of God, while Michael seems to be the one to carry out the will of God.

There are of course hosts and hosts of angels, but none other are specifically named.
