In my opinion, a non Catholic should be able to take communion. Only God knows the heart of a believer, if done with love and respect of our Lord the Catholic Church should allow Christians of any denomination to participate in this most Holy sacrament. My Methodist church welcomes all people of faith. Glory be to GOD!

Catholic communion ministers will not give a person communion if they know he is not a Catholic.

At the same time, a non-Catholic will refuse communion in a Catholic Church if they know well what is taught about the Catholic communion. He might even accuse Catholics of being cannibals.

First and foremost, if they know you aren't Catholic, they won't allow you to and, secondly, to partake of the Catholic communion is grant legitimacy to their concept of the Lord's Supper which is completely contrary to Scripture. Roman Catholics believe that the wafer and the wine are, completely and thoroughly, the flesh and blood of Christ. Most Protestants believe that the meal, although sacred and not to be taken lightly, is a memorial although the presence of Christ is there. There are some differences regarding the meal amongst other Protestants, such as Lutherans and Anglicans, but not to the extent that Catholics take it to. To some extent, we all believe in the "Real Presence" of Christ in the Lord's Supper, however, as to whether it is in the meal, around the meal, or at the meal is a matter is where you'll find disagreement.
