The prayer that is pleasing to our heavenly Father are the prayers that give him thanks...

Prayers that show that without him we would have no life...

Prayers that show that if not for his undeserved kindness we would still be dead in our sins and totally unacceptable in his eyes...

Prayers that show that it is ALL about him and not us...

Prayers that show that He and He alone is in control of everything...

Prayers that Glorify him...

1Th 5:17-18 NKJV pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Prayer is talking with God...We should pray without ceasing. That is pray when we're driving, working, playing, sad, happy, when we're about to start on something new or an everyday occurrence, when we've just been confronted by a difficult situation, when we see our kids off to school and when they come home, etc...pray ALL the time.

We should definitely heed Jesus' words...Mat 6:6 NKJV "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who [is] in the secret [place]; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly...

I pray that we all do this!

Jesus railed against the Pharisees and religious leaders of the day for their so called prayers when they would clear their throat good and loud so that everyone knew they were about to pray. If that didn't work, they hired someone to blow a trumpet to announce their intentions.

God desires and frankly, demands a humble, sincere prayer where the focus is God, His sovereignty and His will. Not using God as a means to your end and not treating Him like a genie in a bottle where you put him on the mantle until you need something.

Christ gave us the example when He gave us the Lord's Prayer.

Worship God, focus on His will being done, ask for your daily needs to be met. Pray for forgiveness as you forgive those who have sinned against you. Asking God to lead us not into temptation but deliver you from evil. Then in the end, you worship Him and praise Him.

This is an example for us to follow. The prayer focuses on worship and praise, and not form...God's sovereignty is center-stage.

When one goes to God with His will in mind and heart, God is pleased. Humility is the fragrance that is pleasing in His eyes...pride stinks, selfishness turns His stomach and humanism in the name of religion is an abomination.

A prayer that pleases God is a prayer that is towards His will. That is what Jesus shows in the model prayer. "Our Father who art in Heaven Hallowed be they name. Thy Kingdom Come that will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom the power the Glory forever amen."

The first half of that prayer. "Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name". Give God glory and praise His holy name.

"Thy kingdom come that will be done on earth as it is in heaven" Speak of His will

Come in with your request and ask for forgiveness: "Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil"

Glorify and Honor Him "For thine is the kingdom the power the glory forever amen"

I used the model prayer when I began to begin a prayer life. I prayed in my own words but that modeled after this prayer. The closer I got God the more He began to speak to me on prayer. It does not have to be in a specific order like this. This is only to get you started. But everything in this prayer shows us how our prayers should look. It should be towards His will no matter what order it is in and always always ask for forgiveness daily. God bless you!
