Is the Son of God the first gift God gave to us?

John 3:16

ESV - 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Maybe breathing life into Adam was the first "gift" He gave us? Not entirely sure what you mean by gift though.

My opinion is that, the bible said that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God,... By him was all things made and without him was nothing made that was made.

So the the word is actually the best gift because it's actually the word that was made flesh, i e Jesus Christ.

I believe the first gift ever given is established based on the following: The bible says in Revelation 13:8 that Jesus is the lamb slain from the foundation of the earth; John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son.” These two passages of scripture reveal that even before God created man; He had provided for man the sacrificial gift of His son Jesus Christ. So the first gift recorded on record in the bible was the gift of Christ to the world.

Great question, Donna Colosimo!

In a sense, yes, Jesus was the first real really big gift God gave us. He is the Bread of life. The Bible says in Genesis 1 how God provided the earth with food:

On Day 3 He (God) did this--11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

"I sing the goodness of the Lord,
that filled the earth with food;
He formed the creatures with His word,
and then pronounced them good.

Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed,
where e’er I turn my eye;
If I survey the ground I tread,
or gaze upon the sky." -- Watts

Wiersbe cites King David who wrote and sang, “The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works” (Ps 145:9).

If I look in the mankind's history I can say with certitude that God gifted the man long before His Son was given to us.
Lord Jesus was the most needed Gift and the only Gift which mankind needed in order to be saved.
