Why is sinful nature inherited? How is everyone born with sin?

It all starts with Adam & Eve. God gave Adam specific instructions not to eat from the tree of wisdom and knowledge. Then Eve was made to accompany Adam, and the enemy told Eve to eat of that tree, and she convinced Adam to eat of the fruit, and so Adam did. And therefore they did not obey God's command and so they sinned. When they had their first child, the child was born from 2 people who committed sin. And the generations after that were also in sin.
