Did God know that Satan had broken into the garden and was about to steal his prime possessions? Why was Satan allowed access? Was the front door left wide open?

God knew that man would fall into sin and need salvation (and thus Christ) before He ever even created the world. He formed His plan to save people through Jesus' death on the cross, and He chose those whom He would save long before the Garden. So it was all part of His mysterious plan. Check out Ephesians 1:4. There are many other scriptures that address this too. I hope this helps.

1. Satan broken into the garden
2. Steal His prime possession
3. Allowed access
4. Unsecured Garden

Genesis 2:16-17 ESV

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
This verse is the setup of Gods plan to prepare for Himself a family who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. This verse cannot be without a challenge to the command “but”. This prepared Adam and Eve for Satan’s approach and to exercise their free will. Therefore Satan did not break in but were allowed access to complete Gods purpose using all the wrong of others Satan, his angels and Adam and Eve to achieve His purposes.
I would then suggest to the investigator's question “Steal” should rather be replace with “Test” (Ex 16:4) Adam and Eve were to set the precedent for eternal peace or eternal hell by their free will choice.
“Satan allowed” Satan was used and played his roll well unknowingly.(Gen 50:20)
“Unsecured garden” it had nothing to do with Satan catching God off-guard but exactly as God fore-saw it. Even if we change our minds how many times God knows our in-between and final mind-set.

Isa 46:9 "Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me,
Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure'; Rev 21 Read and enjoy.
