Michael is an angel. Angels are spirit beings and as such are not subject to the penalty of sin the human race experienced through Adam's transgression. They are not candidates for salvation nor understand the principles involved.

Saints are the redeemed of humanity.

1 Peter 1:12 "Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into."

The Lord Jesus gave us a prayer outline in Matthew 6. He instructs his disciples to whom they should address their prayer in verse 9. "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name."

Rebuking the devil apparently does not fall under the authority of angels.

Jude 1:9 "Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee."

Catholics often refer to Michael as "Holy Michael, the Archangel" or "Saint Michael", a title that does not indicate canonisation. The origin of the word "saint" is "sanctus", Latin for "holy".

The prayer goes: Holy Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
