Verse 11 The parable was used to let the disciples and the nation of Israel know that he would not be ushering the Kingdom of God now. They had an expectation of a conquering king who would destroy and end the Roman occupation. 

Jesus is that noble man who would leave the earth and be crowned king of kings and lord of lords. However, The Lord would one day return that is Jesus' Second Coming. 

The parable further explains what we His servants are to do whilst we anticipate His return. He has given each of us the amount minas. In my opinion the thing that we are each given the same measure or amount of can be both the Holy Spirit and faith. We are meant to be spirit-led and faithful servants until our Master's return. 

Each servant that does the will of the master, knows the will of the master and does it. Each servant that used what the master had given were commended as:
1. Good servant - this describes a servant who does the will of the master. 
2. Faithful - we are required to be people of faith, because of faith alone pleases our master. Our faith is doing the will of the father until the return of our master. 

The foolish servant did not do the will of the master because he did not truly know his master. He did nothing out of fear. Fear we know is the enemy of faith. This servant as opposed to being good and faithful was foolish and fearful. 

The parable in one line can be summarized as: be a good servant doing the will of the master in faith anticipating His return and we too will hear those words, well done good and faithful servant.
