You do that by receiving and believing that it is God who has all the understanding and that He will impart it to you, sometimes gradually, sometimes over time, as you listen to what the Holy Spirit is sharing with you. 

Far too often we Christians decide to tell God what we want to happen. Our prayers are centered around our desires for a specific outcome. We don't realize that it is God working in us, not us working in God. HE knows precisely what He is preparing for you. Get that? He is ALREADY preparing it!

So what do you have to do? Don't question God. Lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him. Can you find those two verses in your Bible? Look them up. Meditate on them. 

Prayerfully, humbly, thank Him that He has it all in control. Tell Him of your great love for Him (He already knows, but tell Him anyway). Associate with those of like faith. Pray with your local Pastor, an Elder or Deacon, or a Christian training class. Can you find these scriptures?

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength."

"And in His Word they meditated day and night."

God bless you abundantly as you "wait upon our Lord."

When I was a child and wanted to know what my chores were for a Saturday before I was allowed to go outside, if my parents were slow telling me, I stepped up and asked, wanting to get an early start and finish. With the Lord this has to be obtained the same way, but of course, through prayer. 
God, like my parents, can be slow telling us what He wants from us, I believe, to get us to ask through prayer. Or maybe his slow pace is for development reasons.

James says the prayer of a righteous person has great power...(James 5:16). 1Thess 5:17 says pray without quitting. Then it says in verse 19 "Do not quench the Spirit." Translation: If you don't quit, He won't.
Answers from God come in a variety of ways. The best way I know to be led of the Spirit is through constant communication. This includes listening to sermons, reading the word, and the best form of communication with the Lord, prayer. 

It could be that you're in your calling. Personally, I think it is a lifelong study. 
Moses began his mission at 80 years old after noticing a burning bush. Or, did it begin when the Pharoah signed the decree to kill all the male Hebrew children? Exodus 1. I think he was in his calling long before he realized it.
