The central theme of scripture, Larry, in so far as interpretation and application is concerned, is that only the Holy Spirit is right. We read in 2 Timothy 2:15-16 KJV that we must rightly divide scripture while avoiding wasting our time in debates. We yield to His Divine Interpretation.

One of the important things that He reveals to us is that certain verses, passages, chapters, even books, were written specifically to the Jews under the Hebrew Bible and "Old Covenant" or "Old Testament,"  and therefore not applicable to we Christians today. Because we Christians can't get this straight, we have more than 30,000 denominations, along with counterfeits and cults, JWs, Mormons, Christian Science, and many more.

Jesus proclaimed that He came in fulfillment of the Law and the prophets. That means COMPLETION in so far as we Christians are concerned. We no longer look to the Law and the prophets for our marching orders. In fact, we have no marching orders since we are saved by grace through faith, the free gift of God, not by the works of the Law, the 1,000 commandments, the 613 rules and regulations, and oral traditions of the Jewish hierarchy.

Matthew 5:19 is a continuation of the Law for the Jews in that day. That is what Jesus is referring to for the 12 Apostles et al in that day. Underline "in that day." It was not written for us today, and is not applicable to Christians today. The commandments and laws mentioned are for the Jews. The Kingdom of Heaven mentioned by Matthew is the same as the Kingdom of God mentioned by Mark and Luke. BOTH are earthly Kingdoms of God, not Spiritual Heaven. Both apply to the Jews in fulfillment of the promise to them of a Kingdom of God on earth.

That Kingdom will not appear until after the Tribulation, after the 2nd Coming, after Armageddon. This, then, is the blessed fruit of "rightly dividing" scripture under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus always referred to Gods Law. All of it. There is no such thing as replacement theology like what has been taught. 
Any mention of commandment or law or Word, all refers back to Gods Torah. 
Jesus said Himself.

Matthew 5:17 
 17 Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

The Greek definition here for fulfill could also read to carry into effect or bring into Realization.
Why would he say "I did not come to abolish the Law but to do away with them." 
How does that make any sense? Yet that's what is taught. 
    Gods Law has not been done away with and if that is not true then that means God changes. 
He said that a pig is an abomination to Him and we should NOTeat it. People say he has changed His opinion on that.
He says to Remember the sabbath and keep it holy. People say He has changed His position on that. 
He said to keep His appointed Times and People Teach that God has changed His Mind. 
GOD DOES NOT CHANGE. 
 Jesus tell us that the Father and I are one. We call Him Emanuel, God with Us. Why would Jesus come to us and teach against the father? 
My answer is that he didn't. He kept, taught, and walked Gods Law to the T, and told us to Follow Him. 
John Teaches us to Walk Just as He Walked. Paul teaches us to Be like Him because he Lived like Christ. No scripture reads that our obligation to the Law is Gone. 
If it did it would look like this. "You no longer have to follow the Commandments of God."  You won't find it and would you like to know why?   Has the earth passed? What about the Heavens?

Matthew 5:18 
 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
 
One might say that the law was for the Jews or for Israel and not for the Gentiles. That we are Gentiles. A quick bible study as to Jesus opinion to the Gentiles and you may not want to refer yourself to them any longer. Jesus call a gentile women a Dog right after ignoring her. Then he tells her something pretty important see for yourself..

Matthew 15
24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Now do your own study when Paul explains how we are grafted into the branch.
Romans 11

If you are born again you are no longer a gentile. You are Gods chosen, Israel. 
So don't say that Gods Instruction doesn't apply.

I hope this will shed light onto a sad deception that has pledged Christianity and will encourage you to Seek Gods response and not to just listen to my words. Pray and Seek.

 15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 
16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Larry, the key is in the previous verse – Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” KJV
The earth is still very much here, and heaven also.

There is much confusion on the subject of the Law in the Christian world.
The Law of God is immutable. It will endure through eternity.
This is what the Word says to the Christian concerning the Law:
John 14:15

15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”  KJV
 Someone may say, this was for the Jews of the day. It applies to every believer.

Romans 8:7 “The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.” NIV
Rejection of the Law is an act of hostility against God. It declares us to be enemies of God.

1 John 2:3 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.” KJV
Knowing God is demonstrated by obedience to His Law.

1 John 2:4 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” KJV
Professing Christianity but rejecting the Law are contradictory positions. 

1 John 3:4 “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” KJV
Sin is still defined in terms of the Law.

Rev 12:17 “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” KJV

Only those who keep the Law AND believe in Jesus Christ are the only enemies of the devil. This is also the definition of the children of God.
Rev 14:12 “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” KJV

The Law predates Adam, let alone Sinai:
Heb 8:5 [who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, "SEE," He says, "THAT YOU MAKE all things ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN WHICH WAS SHOWN YOU ON THE MOUNTAIN." ] NASU

And the Law will post date the earth:
Rev 15:5 “After this I looked and in heaven the temple, that is, the tabernacle of the Testimony, was opened.” NIV

(‘The Testimony’ is the “Ten Commandments”.  Exodus 25:16. Exodus 25:21. Exodus 31:18 When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. 
Exodus 32:15 Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back. 
Exodus 40:20 He took the Testimony and placed it in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it. NIV)

Jesus is our example…..
1 Peter 2:21-22 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.  22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."  NIV (Sin is defined at 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.) KJV Thus Peter is saying, Jesus did NOT transgress the Law, and that we should follow His example.
Paul is also an example……
1 Cor 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. NIV
Read Acts to see how Paul conducted himself with regards to the Law, the Sabbaths and Feasts.

Jesus is not our EXCUSE for disobeying God’s Law. 

The SAVED demonstrate their faith by obeying the Word, all of it, including the Torah.


Digest these statements slowly:
1.  In the past, people sinned (ie, they transgressed the Law - 1 John 3:4), and GOD WAS NOT HAPPY. After Jesus had made atonement for our sins, we can now sin freely (ie, transgress the Law), and GOD IS NOW HAPPY with the arrangement.

2. In the past, the devil lured people to DISOBEY the Law, and so displease God. Today, the devil is trying to lure Christians to OBEY the Law.

It doesn’t add up, does it?

The word translated as 'law/Law' in the N.T. has various meaning, nuance, and connotation and used differently in the context. E.g. Law of Christ - it is not the legal settings to bind people - do this, don't do this, or. It is more lake a life principle rather than law. Another very significant example is Law vs. Torah. Torah is not simply the Five Books of Moses (Pentateuch), but refers to the Teaching and Guidance in the Word of God. Often synonymous with Law or Moses' Law, it is not same.  Torah will never change and be annulled. Teaching of Christ also belongs to Torah in this sense.
