After the shortest verse 'Jesus Wept', there are three runners up, all in a row from one of Paul's more obscure letters. Here they are:

The Bible's Shortest Verses

** 1) Jesus wept. (John 11;35) **

2) Rejoice always. (1 Thessalonians 5:16)
3) ray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17
4) Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:19

One online observer notes that in many modern translations, the shortest verse is actually Job 3:2. Here is the LINK-- > http://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question2694.html

The shortest word in the Bible is John 11:35 "Jesus wept" in the English language. Although some modern translations will dispute that. It ranks 3rd when the Greek language come in with number 1 which is Luke 20:30 "And the second", while 2nd is 1 thes 5:16 "Rejoice always".

There is also the Old Testament which was written in Hebrew which if used can take the Number 1 position. I know it gets complicated when using other languages in which the Bible was translated into.

The best way to look at the Bible is that it is the inspired Word of God and was written by the Holy Spirit through Godly men of God. It is the Word that will give you eternal life by believing in God's Son, Jesus Christ whom is the Way, the Truth and the Life to obtain that Life. From the Shortest verse to the longest and from the shortest book to the longest, Jesus Christ is Lord.

In the original Greek, it’s 1 Thessalonians 5:16 (“Rejoice always”). In the King James Version, the shortest verse is the emotional opposite—John 11:35 (“Jesus wept”). There’s an interesting parallel here. Because Jesus wept, we can rejoice!

The Bible is exactly the right length with no wasted words, no unnecessary information, given in logical segments, designed for a lifetime of study, and filled with truth on every page.

Almighty God in His wisdom has given this world a Book containing everything we need to know about life and eternity. In a masterpiece of succinctness, the Bible is large enough to contain His mind, yet small enough to hold within our hands. It takes just a moment to read a verse, yet our study of Scripture is a lifetime pursuit.

In the Bible we have the mind of God revealed, the state of man disclosed, the problems of life described, and the mysteries of eternity explained.
