What are the meanings behind each vision shown to John in Revelation?

e.g. the seven seals, the four beasts, the lamb taking the book to loose the seals, etc.

Revelation 1:1 - 20

ESV - 1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John. 2 Who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.

Seven is a number symbolic of the covenant, i.e. Sabbath.

The descriptions of the four creatures (lion, ox, eagle, man), eyes everywhere with six wings, are consistent with the descriptions of a cherubim. The fact that there are four creatures may represent the four gospels.

The lamb is Christ. No other is called lamb but Christ in the books written by John.
