Good question! There is some debate about this question, even after all of the years that have passed since the Bible was canonized. Although the book of Genesis describes the very beginning moments of Creation, some Bible scholars argue that it wasn't actually written first. It is widely accepted that the book of Job was written first, although other scholars believe that the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Old Testament, were written first. It's interesting to read the Bible in chronological order, which gives the reader a clearer sense of being in touch with ancient history as you see how biblical events unfolded through time. The chronological order doesn't necessarily shed light on exactly when the books were written; rather, it provides an accounting of the order in which biblical events occurred.
