Salvation is God's grace upon mankind. It is achievable not by any works, it is not a right. It is only accessible through obedience to God. Obedience to God is to embrace Jesus. For it is Jesus who made it possible that we can be saved. It was/is a free gift to be taken by whoever loves it. It is all inclusive, it never discriminates in terms of color, race, height, stature, social status, education, etc (Luke 18:9-14). To whoever comes to Him, to them He gave the powers to become children of God (John 1:12). 

Now, salvation from what? 
The philosophy/practice of Salvation is redemption of the human race from the torment of the devil and eternal death. For nothing else could have been done to set man free apart from shedding the spotless blood of Jesus CHRIST. Obedience to God by recognition of the true sacrifice of the spotless blood of Jesus CHRIST cleanses us from our former sinful self and are made anew by the grace of God (2Cor 5:17). In that, we are made to assume the righteousness (1Cor 1:30), (2Cor 5:21), (Rom 3:21-22, 4:13, 9:30, 10:4). It is by this way that we are made holy and acceptable before God. The conclusive affirmation here is that Salvation is only by God, in the way He has directed us. There is nothing else besides it, you either take it and live, or deny it and die.

The Christian doctrine of Salvation is well stipulated in the Holy Scriptures. First of all, it is by accepting, submitting and following in the footsteps of the only begotten Son of God; Jesus CHRIST. The working formula of Salvation by God is Jesus CHRIST. To know Jesus is to know God. All that God wanted/wants us to know about Him, He engraved it in Jesus. Jesus CHRIST is all we needed/need so as to be saved, and yes we are because of Jesus' coming (John 14:9-11). As that, if Salvation is only by God, so it is only through Jesus CHRIST, God's only Son. 

Salvation is only by God. Many individuals tend to create what they have come to term as Salvation, but if it is less or more than what scripture tells us it is, then it becomes something else, not the form that Jesus CHRIST created when He offered Himself on the cross. Salvation is not a religion, it is not a practice, and it is not a lifestyle. It is life; it is recreating a relationship with God without which one should be counted off. Is not about what we do. It is never by right and not by merit. It only comes by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8), (Acts 15:11).

What is the process of acquiring Salvation? 
Scripture is very clear on the process of acquiring Salvation, but the clearest one is the one in (Rom 10:8-10). The process of Salvation must first of all involve recognition of sin and helplessness to overcome it by self. Accept the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Recognize the Lordship of Jesus the CHRIST over all mankind by confession. Confess what? Confess that Jesus the CHRIST is the Son of God. That He came on earth to set us free. That He died on the cross for our sins. That He rose again from the dead on the third day. That right now He is in Heaven seated on the right hand side of God the Father (Acts 7:55-56), (Rom 8:34), (Ephesians 1:20), (Col 3:1). This should be done publicly. You go on to announce change of allegiance from the devil (by denying the devil and his works) to God's will and thereby follow in the footsteps of Jesus CHRIST by both; good works (holiness) and thought (righteousness).

Why is it only through Jesus? 
It is only through Jesus because He alone offered Himself to be the only truly acceptable sacrifice. No body else could have. He Himself, He said stunningly; He is the way, the truth, and the life without whom, nobody can have access to God the Father (John 14:6-7). Nobody else has ever made such a statement.

As that, all that is Salvation must have its roots in Jesus CHRIST, and the work He did on the cross. I mean the Salvation by which we are granted eternal life and are led to Heaven to meet God the Father.

Salvation, strictly speaking, refers to how one gets into the "kingdom of God". It is synonymous to how to "enter in the kingdom of God". This is achieved consistent with the narrative regarding the original plan alluded to in the "garden of Eden" (Gen.1:26-28). 

Notice:
Gen. 2:9 "And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil."
Gen. 2:16-17, "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

From above 2 verses, God (Creator Elohim) already planned for us to have "knowledge of good and evil as well as immortal bodies/eternal life". But, Adam wanted to achieve these on his own "works" and violated God's warning and failed. It is not the man-Adam to fulfill these but the man-Jesus. This generic or common name from Hebrew word Elohim is the Creator God, specifically identified as YHVH Elohim(Lord God)in Gen. 4-9; v15-16;v18-19;v21-22. Much like the common name is Smith but the proper name is John Smith, that specifically refers to no other than John. This YHVH Elohim, the Creator God is the Logos in John 1:1 who incarnated to Jesus. He is the "proximate Creator" or actual creator just by saying the word, things were created. Strictly speaking, he created following the will of the Father(Ancient of Days), see I. Cor. 8:6; John 8:28-29; Dan. 7:13.

But, how will Jesus achieve these 2 objectives, viz., 
1. For us to have knowledge of good and evil
2. For us to have eternal life(immortal bodies).

Going through the major points of the whole Bible, one can clearly see that the "ten commandments written in tablets of stones" and given through Moses were merely a "type". When Moses came down from "Mt Sinai" to deliver the Decalogue to Israelites (chosen people mind you), they all promised to follow but failed. There failure was a documentation that the problem was not the Decalogue but "them"(Heb. 8:7-9), i.e., "flesh is weak" (Mk. 14:38; Matt. 26:41) and was made so from the beginning, from the "dust of the ground" (Gen.2:7).

This is why the Spirit of God has to come down, not from Mt Sinai, but from heaven; not from Moses the mediator but from Christ, the mediator of this New Covenant. And, with that is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Heb. 8:10-13 "...put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts.." and also in 2 Cor. 3:3 "...written with the Spirit of the living God, not in tables of stone but in fleshly tablets of human hearts." Yes, the Holy Spirit of God has to be in us not only for guidance as to "knowledge of good and evil" but also the "power to overcome" evil (Acts 1:8; Rom. 12:21;2Pet. 1:3-4;Phil.4:13).

How did we get this Spirit of God? It was because of the "faith of Jesus", the Creator God in Genesis and the Logos in John 1:1,. Faith "in" whom? In the Father. Jesus incarnated, died to reconcile us to the Father, and resurrected to claim this Holy Spirit as promised by the Father(John 16:7). Indeed, we are "saved by his life"(not his death (Rom. 5:10). Whatever "works" that emanate from our actions are indeed "fruits of this Holy Spirit"; not our works but "works of the Spirit" in us...so that no one can boast (Eph. 2:8-9).

As Jesus followed the will of the Father (Matt.26:39), so should we follow to be ”one" with Him in "knowledge of good and evil". Having thus become overcomers, we will have eternal life (Rev. 3:21; 2:26; 21:7). And to be "like him" with "immortal bodies", at resurrection in "a twinkling of an eye", we will change from mortal to immortal-bodies. Objectives then have been achieved, all through Jesus' faith in the Father and works through the Holy Spirit; all because of Jesus, the "author and finisher" of our faith.

This word, salvation, is used for the deliverance of the Israelites from the Egyptians (Ex. 14:13), and of deliverance generally from evil or danger. In the New Testament, it is specially used concerning the great deliverance from the guilt and the pollution of brought about/brought to pass by Jesus Christ, “the great salvation” (Heb. 2:3).

"According to the broadest meaning as used in Scripture, the term salvation encompasses the total work of God by which He seeks to rescue man from the ruin, doom, and power of sin and bestows upon him the wealth of His grace encompassing eternal life, provision for abundant life now, and eternal glory (Eph. 1:3-8; 2:4-10; 1 Pet. 1:3-5; John 3:16 --"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.", John 3:36 --"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."; John 10:10 -- "The thief [Satan is who Jesus meant most probably, and any false teacher] comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.")." -bible.org

Salvation is always by innocent blood (Heb. 9:22), and it’s always through a person (Jon. 2:9; Ac 4:12 --"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. [that would be the name of Jesus]"; 1 Th. 5:9 --"For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,"; Heb. 5:9). It is always by grace (Eph 2:8-9 Verse 8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast."; Tit. 2:11), and it’s always through faith (Ro. 5:1; Heb. 11:6). "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!"
