Hebrews is deep in fleshing out the symbols of the Old Testament and showing how they were shadow pointing to the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The Temple is where God meets with mankind. Matthew 12:6 Jesus says that something greater than the temple is here. Him. He is God with man, Emmanuel. John 2:19 Jesus changes what temple means from the physical building to Himself. According to Paul the temple is His church because that is where the Spirit dwells. Ephesians 2:20 and 1 Corinthians 6:19. The Old Testament shadow of the physical temple building has been fulfilled and confirmed with the events of 70AD. The temple (tabernacle of God) in Revelation 21:3 is among men completely and includes all creation. A future physical temple building before Christ's return, rebuilt or not, is insignificant eschatologically.

It's possible. It's also possible that the abomination of desolation was a reference to Nero and that he already did that prior to the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. Which would mean that it's also possible the temple will never be rebuilt before Christ returns.
