Andy Mangus I am a Christian since October 1979 & devoted truth seeker.

My really short answer to this question is this: God, is God the Father, God, the Son and God, the Holy Spirit! But, wait....we each have to go back to the first book of The Bible! (Genesis) "In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was GOD! God reveals himself to mankind via His written word. In the days of the Apostles, they would go about teaching, preaching and spreading the WORD. In the old testament times, the Ten Commandments and great patriarchs from Abraham, Issac and Jacob, etc., along with the temple priests would speak/read the Torah, which is the writings from the human authors of what we call "The OLD Testament". 

All of God's eternal TRUTH is found in the single most important set of scrolls, tablets, papyrus, etc., to eventually become God's written WORD in bounded form with Old Testament -and- the New Testament 'books' written really by God's Divine direction. Remember!..He is in control and has ALWAYS BEEN IN CONTROL! 

My point here is this: There is no 'truth' in understanding the New Testament without intimate knowledge of or at least a strong familiarity of The OLD TESTAMENT! Jesus Christ himself spoke perfectly from the Old Testament writings and scrolls, but He didn't have to read them, for He is the Living, Breathing WORD OF GOD. (John 16:30) The Old Testament is the very foundation of knowledge that is truly the foundation of understanding the New Testament.

We find our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST in the New Testament in human form, but we also know the work of His hands and His spoken WORD IN GENESIS. He also, when walking, talking, breaking bread and teaching His disciples, He taught, explained, corrected them with many Old Testament scriptures and truths. "He is the Word and The Word became flesh and dwelt among us!" (John 1:14)

**Read, study, ponder and meditate on God's Holy WORD, DAILY! And, don't forget the Old Testament!**

As I like to say; "Praise God that He provided a Savior! And, His name is Jesus Christ!"

I believe this short poem summarizes Michael's and Andy's statements. One pastor/teacher I study after stated that approximately 75% of the New Testament writings is comprised of quotations from the Old Testament. 

"The New is in the Old contained. 
The Old is in the New explained.
The New is in the Old concealed.
The Old is in the New revealed."
