This question is frequently asked by skeptics of God, the Bible, Christianity, etc. If God can create a rock that He cannot lift, then God is not omnipotent. If God cannot create a rock so heavy th...

The basic mistake here is that, "being too heavy for God to lift," is not a property of the rock, but describes a property of God. Namely, to create such a rock, God would have to have the property of having a limited amount of physical force he can exert to lift a rock, such that there would be a limit at which a rock was too massive to be lifted by him.

Imagine two Gods, one having true Omnipotence and no limit to how heavy a rock he could lift, and another God who could make a rock of any mass, but had a limit to how heavy a rock he could lift. Now, both of these Gods could create a rock of infinite mass, both rocks being completely identical to each other. Even though there is no meaningful difference between the two rocks, the first God could not be said to have made a rock he couldn't lift, while the 2nd one would have. Thus making a rock so heavy that you can't lift it isn't really a task; rather it is two tasks, one which can be accomplished (creating the rock), and one which cannot be accomplished (lifting it).

So what can God do then?

There is no rock God cannot lift, because God's ability to move an object is independent of physical forces. So it doesn't matter how heavy it is, he can lift it. So God can create a rock of any size, and he can lift it.

A good analogy to understanding this is the Matrix. Basically, on this analogy the physical universe exists in the spiritual realm in a similar way to how the Matrix exists in the information realm. God is in a position where he can access the underlying "information" of reality, for example the data representing the location of the rock. He has direct access and the ability to change the data, he doesn't need to lift the rock indirectly with a physical force because he can simply overwrite the data of the rock's location.

This is a sceptical question, (was it asked by an unbeliever perhaps? - may God open your eyes to see the truth as it is in Jesus!).

It is comprehensively and simply answered in God's word. I'll give a few examples - there are many more:

Gen 18:14 - Is any thing too hard for the Lord?
Matt 19:26 - with God all things are possible.
Mark 10:27 - with God all things are possible.
Luke 1:37 - For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 18:27 - The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Phil 3:21 - he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Dear friend;

Nonobstant the skepticism in the formulation of the above question, the answers given above by other contributors explain the doubt or unbelief you may be having about the omnipotence of the Almighty God.

If you can read about the vision of King Nabuchadnesar in the Book of Daniel (Chapter 2) and The New Jerusalem In Revelation (Chapters 21 & 22)you will find the answer to your question.

I would like to tell you that: God is able to lift/move not only just a massive rock but the all earth...All planets... THE ALL UNIVERSE FOR HE HIS THE CREATOR (EL ELOHIM).

Believe and you will experience greater wonder than lifting a massive rock.

Reading God's Word tells me, God wouldn't create anything He couldn't lift. What would be the purpose, none. God is the God of order and reason. 1 Corinthians 14:33 and Luke 14:28-32.

Mankind in it's silly effort to dispute God, might come up with all these hypothesis, but God is so much higher in reason and order, I know He just laughs at mankind's silliness. 1 Corinthians 1:25.

Since this is a question that is meant to be unanswerable, I will answer it with another question.

God can create a rock that you cannot lift. He can lift that same rock. Does that make Him God, or you?
