Preparing oneself for marriage biblically is the same as preparing for any life endeavor. There is a principle that should govern all aspects of our lives as born-again believers: "Love the Lord yo...

I just answered this question in a comment to another question so I will add it here.

First I suggest you read Jennifer Goss answer to "How can I know if I am in love". https://ebible.com/questions/2934-how-can-i-know-if-i-am-in-love#answer-6533

Understanding the four types of Love she talks about is important. Then I suggest you read "The five love languages" by Gary Chapman. Speaking the same love language or more importantly, being able to understand your spouse's love language, is extremely important.

Finally, and this is really first, make sure both you and your spouse both submit to God. God is the Authority and if you both understand and agree to that fact, you will have a firm foundation to base your relationship.

Just one more note to add. Unfortunately, about half of all marriages end in divorce. This is about the same for Christian marriages. If you both go to church TOGETHER, the chance of success increases. If you both pray together on a regular basis, your chance of a marriage that last is well over the 90 percentile. I think this fact stems both from the fact that if you pray together, you are in submission to God and if you pray for each other then God has access to heal wounds quicker. It is extremely difficult to hold a grudge against someone you are praying for. Also, I believe God will bless your marriage.

God bless, there is a difference between a relationship and being married. Relationships, come and go.Being married is a commitment.

If you cannot be committed to God you can not be committed to another person. Two can serve better than one. If one falls the other can pick him up. To prepare yourself for marriage, prepare yourself to be committed to God for the rest of your life. Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church.

If you are not ready to do that, don't get married.
