The Bible has a great deal to say about servanthood because the central theme of the Bible is the Servant of all-Jesus Christ. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and ...

Over 17 times in the New Testament alone the term "bondservant" is used to describe the writer of an epistle. The gist of this term in all cases refers to each one of them as a “Love Slave to the Lord Jesus Christ “. When we hear the term "slave" we always think in terms of evil for the most part, but the understanding has to be that there are only two types of people on planet earth. We are either slaves to sin or slaves to Christ. In either case you may say that we serve sin or we serve Christ.

The Bible says that each and every person has been bought with a price and that price was paid for at Calvary. The Bible also says that we are no longer our own. “For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called while free is Christ’s slave.” 1 Corinthians 7:22

While we are left in this vapor called earth we are here and given the title of ambassadors for Christ. Any afflictions that we may suffer here on earth are but a millisecond in comparison to eternity.

Jesus said this in MATTHEW 23:11-12 --

23:11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 23:12 And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Greatness in God’s kingdom is never to be found in position... The Pharisees thought that position was a mark of greatness, so they sought the best seats in the synagogue and at the public dinners. Where a man sits bears no relationship to what a man is.

Greatness is found in servant-like service to others.--J. Hampton Keathley, III

Being Christ’s disciple means serving others (Mark 10:45; 22 Corinthians 4:5).

The Navigators Topical Memory System—Servants:

Mark 10:45 ESV
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

2 Corinthians 4:5 ESV
For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

Matthew 20:26-27
20:26 It must not be this way among you! Instead whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, 20:27 and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave.
