In what ways can you rely on God as your "shield" today?

Discuss this Psalms 18:2

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I.e., how is He your refuge?

Dear Anonymous, Psalm 18 is a song of David the king of Israel, and during his reign he was indeed a man of war. In this psalm, David is acknowledging Yahweh (the LORD), as the One who delivered him from all of his enemies and gave him the victory.

Today, we are in spiritual warfare, and according to Hebrews 2:10, Yeshua is revealed as the captain of our salvation (our Leader and Commander).

It is He who conquered the enemies of sin and death. And the One who declared us believers, as more than conquerors in Romans 8:37, because of His love for us.

In Ephesians 6:10-18, the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus, concerning the armor of God, and how to dress for the battle.

God continues to be a shield of protection for all who put their faith and trust in Him through Jesus Christ. His promises are an anchor for our souls, and His love will never fail!

His Word is a sure foundation (rock), and a defense (fortress) against the attacks of the enemy (the devil and his demons).

We can say, like King David said, in Psalm 18:2, "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

He will protect us from our adversary, the devil, who walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8
