What can we learn about the Day of the Lord from the book of Joel?

Especially Joel 2:11-13 ESV
11 The Lord utters his voice before his army, for his camp is exceedingly great; he who executes his word is powerful. For the day of the Lord is great and very awesome; who can endure it?

Joel begins by asking an intriguing question, "Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your ancestors?"

He continues: To build on his question by comparing the locusts invasion to a nation that had invaded the land. (Joel 1:4-6)

Joel advises the people to mourn, because without a harvest, their economy would be ruined! They should turn to the Lord, cry out!

Indeed the Day of the Lord is near and will come! This day is in other prophetic books in the Old Testament. (see for example Isaiah 13:6,9; Ezekiel 13:5; Amos 5:18, 20; Obadiah 15; and Zephaniah 1:7,14)

God always says what He means and means what He says.

God's wheels may grind slow, but don't doubt whatever He says!

The Lord sent a message through his prophet! He requested a change in their attitude! God is full of Grace, ready to welcome anyone who seeks Him and will forgive!

All God wants is your honest heartfelt prayer respecting Him as the Almighty Forgiving Father that He is! God's open arms are waiting to receive any who come to Him! Go! Why waste another minute without Him?

The Day of the Lord is still coming! Its a lot closer than we know!
