What does the Bible say about God's power? (in verses like the following):

Jeremiah 32:17 "Oh, Lord God, you did indeed make heaven and earth by your mighty power and great strength. Nothing is too hard for you!"

Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world his invisible attritues--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people are without excuse."

1. God's power is displayed in creation (Jer. 32:17; Romans 1:20).
2. It is described as "mighty power" and "eternal power." (both verses).
3. Jeremiah's reference is a prayer that we could all start our prayers
of adoration with.
4. Paul's reference to God's eternal power being seen (experienced) by His powerful work in creatin displaying this invisible atttribute of God.
5. Jeremiah concludes that there is nothing God cannot do. That must mean that God is all-powerful (omnipotent).

Jeremiah 32:17 says, "Oh, Lord God, you did indeed make heaven and earth by your mighty power and great strength. Nothing is too hard for you!"

Romans 1:20 says, "For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes -- his eternal power and divine nature -- have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people are without excuse."

The Old Testament statement about God's power is an exclamation; the New Testament statement is a declaration.

Jer. 32:17 is repeated almost exactly in Jer. 32:27.

“I am the Lord, the God of all humankind. There is, indeed, nothing too difficult for me." ("Behold," in the KJV changes to "indeed" in the NET, I believe). God did indeed make heaven and earth, and there is, indeed, nothing too difficult for him.

Verse 1: "...where does my help come from?"
Verse 2: "My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth."

In fact, God's power is so great and incomparable that the prophet Jeremiah says this in Jeremiah 10:11 "Thus shall you say to them: 'The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.'"

Romans 1:20 says people have an understanding (although limited) about God's general revelation of creation which he has shown to all people about His existence.

When talking about God's power, His understanding is also mentioned (in Jeremiah 10:12 -- "It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.
