What causes God to be joyful (Jeremiah 9:24)?

23 Thus says the Lord: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord."

But what other things cause God to be joyful?

The first "other thing" that comes to my mind is obedience to His commands, which is what leads to righteousness.

God’s joy is rooted deeply in who He is and what He loves; His steadfast love, justice, and righteousness (Jeremiah 9:24). He delights in His own works; especially in His chosen servant (Isaiah 42:1; Matthew 12:18; Hebrews 1:9); and ultimately in Jesus Christ, where God’s approval was openly declared at Jesus’ baptism (Matthew 3:17; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22). God rejoices when His people genuinely worship Him (Psalm 149:4-9); when His temple is restored (Haggai 1:8); and when His people repent and turn from sin (Luke 15:7; Deuteronomy 30:9). He takes pleasure in obedience, honesty, integrity, and mercy (1 Samuel 15:22; Proverbs 12:22; Psalm 147:11). When God’s face shines upon His people (Numbers 6:25; Psalm 67:1), it signals His joy and blessing; but when people persist in evil, His displeasure is evident (Psalm 34:16).

If you want to bring joy to God, start by knowing Him personally; boast in understanding who He is and what He does (Jeremiah 9:24). Turn from sin; embrace Jesus Christ as your Savior; worship sincerely; live with integrity; and obey His commands. God’s joy over you will be real and lasting. Don’t miss the chance to enter into this joyful relationship with the Creator who longs to delight in you.

Jeremiah 9:24: "But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understand and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight," saith the Lord.

The delight of the Lord, who demonstrates His lovingkindness, is found in those who discern and are led to possess the right spirit of God’s given wisdom in them. There was one notable centurion who approached Lord Jesus with a plea. The centurion had a servant who lay sick and was paralyzed at home. Lord Jesus, offered to come and heal him, but the centurion replied, “I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof. Only speak the Word, and my servant shall be healed.” Lord Jesus then said, "I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel." The centurion knew the Lord would exercise with lovingkindness, for he had great faith in Him. Lord Jesus then said to him, “Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee.” (Mat 8:5-10,13)

Peter, James, and John were brought up to the high mountain by our Lord Jesus and were guided by God the Father in the right spirit of wisdom. During this time, Lord Jesus was transfigured before them, and Moses and E-li’-as appeared, standing with Him. A bright cloud then overshadowed all of them, and a voice came from the cloud, the voice of God the Father, and said unto them. “This is my Beloved Son; Hear Ye Him.” This was the joy of God the Father, as they were sent to “witness Him, and to glorify and testify Him.” This shall be “My two witnesses” that are revealed unto us through prophecy, for a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. This will occur at the “appointed time,” as foretold in the vision given to Daniel about the end times. (Mat 17:1-5/Rev 11:3/Dan 8:1,14,19)

God the Father, having His beloved Son on the earth, hath given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man. For God the Father judged no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son. (John 5:21,27) The Lord, who will exercise His lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness on the earth, one needs to discern as the Lord Jesus reveals unto us. Look not as the Pharisees and Sadducees for a sign from heaven, for you shall not discern the signs of time. (Mat 16:1-4) The Lord revealed to Jeremiah the judgment that shall come to pass. For the Lord said, “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches.” Behold, the days will come saith the Lord, that when, “I will punish all of them which are circumcised in the heart and are with the uncircumcised.” (Jer 9:23,25)

Romans 8:39: Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God loves his children to praise and worship Him. He loves giving to his children and he loves an obedient heart that he knows is good for us and honours Him. This gives joy to the Father.
