Five passages that come readily to mind, from both the Old and New Testaments: Proverbs 21:30 ("No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the LORD.") Isaiah 14:24 ("The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, “Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, And as I have purposed, so it shall stand.") Acts 5:39 ("But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”) 1 Corinthians 15:24-27 ("Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he 'has put everything under his feet.' Now when it says that 'everything' has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.") Philippians 2:10-11 ("...that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.)
You Can’t Fight God Scripture repeatedly shows that resisting God ends in defeat—often swift and severe. Exodus 14:27-28 – Pharaoh’s army drowned in the Red Sea. Not one survived. 2 Kings 1:9-12 – Two squads sent to arrest Elijah were consumed by fire. 2 Chronicles 20:22-24 – Enemy armies destroyed each other when Judah praised. Acts 5:1-11 – Ananias and Sapphira dropped dead for lying to the Holy Spirit. Acts 5:38-39 – Gamaliel warned: if it's from God, you can’t stop it—you’ll be fighting Him. Acts 12:21-23 – Herod was struck down and eaten by worms for accepting divine praise. Daniel 4:30-33 – Nebuchadnezzar was humbled and lost his mind until he acknowledged God. Daniel 5:30 – Belshazzar mocked God and was killed the same night. Ezekiel 38-39 – Gog’s coalition is supernaturally crushed. Revelation 19:19-21 – Christ instantly defeats the kings of the earth. Psalm 2:1-5 – God laughs at rebellious nations and responds in wrath. Key truth: “The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.” (Exodus 15:3) “If it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them.” (Acts 5:39) Big idea (a:term I learned at Dallas Theological Seminary--they told us that EVERY sermon has to have a BIG IDEA, a MAIN POINT) You don’t have to defend truth—just unleash it. Those who fight against it aren’t just opposing ideas. They’re opposing God—and that’s a battle no one wins. Spurgeon said it well: “The word of God is like a lion. You don’t have to defend it. Let it loose. It will defend itself.”
