The word "trinity" is a doctrine expressed through the Bible. In Matthew 28:18-20 we see Jesus "...baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost."

There are other clear indications of the Trinity. See an example: an apostolic benediction in 2 Corinthians 13:14.

There are three persons in one Godhead, the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God.

In history God has chosen to reveal Himself as one God but three "personalities," different aspects of the same person, if you will. I think of it this way: I am a wife, a mother, and a sister... yet, I am only one person.

This GODHEAD is a unity throughout the entire range of Judeo-Christian resources.

See Deuteronomy 6:4:5; Isaiah 44:6-8; Isaiah 45:21-23; and 1 Corinthians 8:5, 6.

God is complex. He is personal. Look at Matthew 22:41-45. Look at the parallel passages in Mark and Luke. Consider a!so Hebrews 1:13; 10:12,13.

That the Jewish mind in the New Testament times saw no problem in the personal distinctions in the being of God is a remarkable fact. It was the idea of God in the flesh that was objected to.

"Thou, being a man makes thyself God!" John 10:33.

The new testament saw no problem with God being personal. The idea of God being man infuriated them! John 10:33, John 5:18.

The concept of being a Son, meant an equal! Psalm 2:6,7. John 10:34-36.

The Holy Spirit of God sent forth by God is frequently referred to in the Old Testament. Psalm 51:11; Haggai 2:5, Isaiah 63:10,11.

Peter addressed Ananias, "Why has Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit?" Acts 5:3, 4.

Look at the prayer life of Jesus in John 17.

God is One. Jesus is God. The Ho!y Spirit is God. Three persons. One subject. One Object. The Trinity.

The Father gave the Son (John 3:16); the Son gave Himself (Galatians 2:20); "through the eternal Spirit" He offered Himself" (Hebrews 9:14).

The revelation of the Eternal Son illuminates our finite sonship in the "household" of God. (Romans 8:16, 29; 1John 3:1,2; 17:21,22)
