We should not be tempted to think that every recent event needs to be fitted into biblical prophecy. In fact it is entirely the wrong way round when it comes to understanding the bible. We should not start with current events and apply them to the bible; we should start with the bible and apply its teaching to ourselves.

People have made this mistake for hundreds of years. In the 1500's they looked at Martin Luther and proclaimed him the Antichrist. In the 1800's they said it was Napoleon. In the 1960's they said it was Henry Kissinger. Every age has troubles of its own, but we should not run to the bible to interpret every event that worries us.

We should stop trying to apply the bible to every storm. Apply the bible to ourselves and the storm will pass.
