In my view, as long as people (even Christians) are in this life and fallen world, they are subject to the possibility of adversity. However, maintaining faith in Christ and living in accordance with Christian principles allows believers to fall under the principle noted by Paul in Romans 8:28, when he stated, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." I interpret this as indicating that God can make even seemingly negative events ultimately work to believers' benefit. I also find it helpful to remember that any events on earth pale into insignificance compared with the joy and duration of eternity. Therefore, the most significant and beneficial thing that any Christian can do with regard to his or her "house" is to assure (even in the midst of day-to-day distractions) that all members of that house live, and all activities in that house are done, with Christ in mind.
