I'm just wondering if this question meant idol worship, or at the time it was written about having more than one wife?
Exodus 20:4

By my understanding, although the Bible does use adultery in multiple passages (other than the Ten Commandments) as a symbolic metaphor for the sin of worshipping idols or other false gods, the seventh commandment (as given in Exodus 20:14) refers only and specifically to unfaithfulness on the part of married human couples. (And, as Jesus later said in Matthew 5:27-28, God's view of such adultery includes not only physical actions, but also lusting after someone who is not your spouse.)
