Why did God open up the path through the Red Sea at night instead of day?

I'm just wondering if there is any significance and/or advantage to crossing during the night since I imagine they were tired from their journey and probably would have preferred to be sleeping!

As I read it, the fact that the dividing wind blew all night (coupled with the workings of the pillar of fire and the cloud as described in Exodus 14:19-20) may have given the Israelites the opportunity for a brief refreshment through rest prior to their crossing.
