In my opinion, even the active expression of praise to God on the part of believers during their every waking moment would be insufficient to thank Him for the eternal life that is mercifully granted to them through faith in Christ. Also, even events that appear negative to us from our limited temporal perspective should serve as grounds for praise because of the manner in which God makes ALL things to work together for our good (eternally, if not also temporally) (Romans 8:28). All I can do is to do my best to retain a continual consciousness of ways in which God is or may be working in my daily life (even during seemingly adverse times or events), and make a deliberate effort to be grateful to Him, regardless of how difficult it might seem from an objective perspective. (Association with other believers to the greatest degree possible also can assist in that effort.).
