Jn 1: 1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made...14 And the Word was made flesh.

What this verse is telling us is that God is all in all. Remember this because it is important to know. How was the word made flesh?

John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Then Jesus said:
Jn 14: 10: Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me.

Then Jesus tells us: Jn. 10: 34: Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him."

Do you see the distinction that Christ makes here between him and the Father? Do you see the words Christ spoke were not his own but he spoke the words the Father gave him. This too is very important because the Father is talking to us through his Son. Christ tells us that we will understand their relationship when the Father gives us understanding.

Jn 14: 20: At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

Do you see how we have become one in Christ?

How did you yourself come to the conclusion that Jesus is God? That could be an effective means of discussing the subject with those who are not already believers.

Also, although I was raised as a Christian, I have found the works of the English Christian writer C. S. Lewis, and particularly his book Mere Christianity (which should be fully readable online), as very persuasive tools in furthering my own grounding in Christ, as well as talking with or to others about Him. (Lewis is particularly effective in that regard through having been a former agnostic who converted to Christianity.)

My opinion is that Jesus is God because "... the NT writers, [e.g. the writer to the Hebrews,] affirm Jesus Christ's divinity -- Hebrews 1:8 (biblehub), i.e. his deity is proved by his names, 'God'" (Ryrie). "Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever." (This is God the Father talking to God the Son). Compare what John and Paul wrote in John 1:1-2,18 and Titus 2:13, respectively. And Peter the writer affirms this, too: "The Apostle Peter described Jesus as 'our God and Savior' (2 Peter 1:1; cf. Titus 2:13) and called on believers to 'honor Christ the Lord as holy' (1 Peter 3:15)." (answersingenesis.org)

The deity of Christ is proved by his works (his deeds). He is referred to as the Creator (Colossians 1:16 See also John 1:3,10; Acts 3:15; Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Hebrews 1:2,10; Psalm 102:25 --biblehub.com and Dr. Charles Ryrie (Ryrie Study Bible).

"He humbled himself to death on the Cross. Because of this, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:10–11); it is only God who is to be worshipped as Lord (see Isaiah 45:23)." -(answersingenesis.org). In other words, the divinity of Christ is proved "by the worship that is given him by all (Phil. 2:10)." (Ryrie).
