A person who has physically died can no longer commit sinful acts. Those who have placed their faith in Christ for the salvation and eternal life that He made possible through His own sinless life, redemptive physical death, and subsequent resurrection have spiritually participated in and accessed all those stages for themselves.

As long as we as believers are in this life, and although we should grow progressively more Christlike, we will never be able to be totally free of sinful acts and thoughts. However, even now, we have a new nature that has been freed from the total control that our old sinful nature once exerted over us (as well as the eternal consequences of that sin), and have the power to perform acts that are pleasing to God, and that serve as a basis for eternal rewards from Him.
