God is so gracious with us. The more we know Him, the more we love Him. What else could He do for us? Considering all that we know, our Christian walk should be one of joy. Romans 12:8: "Of he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; He that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness." Psalm 35:9: "And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in His salvation." (I believe joy and cheer are all but the same.) Jesus said, Matthew 9:2: "...be of good cheer,; thy sins have been forgiven thee." Matthew 14:27: "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid." John 16:33: "But these things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Ecclesiastes 11:9: "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment." This one is kind of two-edged! Proverbs 15:13: "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the Spirit is broken." Proverbs 15, verse 15, says that a merry (cheerful) heart has a continual feast. God gives because He enjoys seeing cheerfulness in His creation. He is especially happy when we are glad to serve Him in any way that we can. James 5:13: "Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms." As I understand it, the Greek word for cheerful is hilarious. Let's make God smile.
