Have I rejected the holy Spirit?

While I was thinking to myself yesterday, I thought to myself, "I reject the Holy Spirit." I don't truly, but am having a hard time feeling concerned/bad (numb) and I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. I refuse to say it out loud and declare it, but I feel like it's too late to turn back to God.

Rejecting the holy Spirit today would mean that one has yet to believe the gospel that saves (1 Cor 15:1-4), as we are sealed by "That Holy Spirit" immediately upon our belief (Eph 1:12-13, Eph 4:30), and until Christ comes to redeem us!

The unpardonable sin that you are referring to (Matt 12:31) is when Israel 'as a nation' rejected the holy Spirit at the stoning of Stephen (Acts 6:5, Acts chapters 6 through 8). It was their next chance after the crucifixion of Christ to receive their kingdom, and what prompted God to turn to Gentiles with the FREE GIFT of salvation through faith alone in Christ (Acts 28:28). This was also to provoke Israel to jealousy (Romans 10:19, Romans 11:11).

Paul tells us today that ALL of our sins (including going against the guidance of the Spirit on occasion) were forgiven at the cross through the shed blood of Jesus Christ (1 Cor 15:3-4, Col 1:14, Eph 1:7).

We too often forget (fall from) God's grace, and believe that there is something that we're missing in our lives that we must do in order to obtain, maintain, or return to God's favor. That was Christ's purpose and accomplishment on the cross for us was all about! He COMPLETED ALL requirements on our behalf, and our belief in this is how we accept God's free gift, and then MAKES US acceptable to God (2 Cor 5:21, Phil 3:9). It may help to remember that 'where sin abounds, God's grace does much more abound' (Romans 5:20)!

It's never too late to turn back to God, because our position with Him does not change once we've actually placed our true faith in Jesus Christ being our savior. We may not be living as would should as Christian believers (we all fall short), but a better statement would be that it's never too late to COME to God through faith in Jesus Christ.

The result, at the moment of our belief, then places us in a new POSITION with God. It's not our sins or how we live our lives that affect our standing with God once we believe, although very important to do as a Christian (working out our faith...OUT of ourselves). God now sees us IN Christ, and thankfully not how we see ourselves when we look in the mirror!
