Why didn't God kill Aaron in Exodus 32?

Exodus 32:1 - 35

ESV - 1 When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, "Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him. 2 So Aaron said to them, "Take off the rings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.

Remember in chapter 4 of Exodus, that even after Moses had encountered the "Burning Bush," he was still hesitant to speak for God. God had fashioned Moses’ mouth. Moses did not know God already planned to send Aaron to be a prophet to Moses. Moses was God's prophet, Aaron would be Moses' mouthpiece.

We must also know that God, the Lord's sovereignty, is always paramount! God can and will do as He pleases.

Exodus 33:19: "...I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."
