In the book of John chapter 1:35, 36, 40, 41 we read, "Again, the next day John (the Baptist) stood with two of his disciples. And looking at Jesus, as He walked, he said, 'Behold, the lamb of God.'

“The two disciples heard Him speak and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following said to them, 'What do you seek?'

“One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him (Jesus), was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him; 'We have found the Messiah' (which translated is the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus."

Andrew had been a disciple of John the Baptist.

In those days finding Jesus was contagious! See these references - Matthew 26:63, 64; MarK 14:61, 62; Luke 22:67-70.

Because he brought his own brother to the newly found Messiah, Andrew earned the distinction of being the first missionary of the cause of Christ (John 1:41). "He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, 'We have found the Messiah" (which means Christ).'" Shirley puts this trait of Andrew first and foremost, and I follow suit.

If we are Christ’s ours will be the passion to lead others to Him. I'm 75 and may not have long to live (I just had a heart attack but am recovering, however, now I KNOW the frailty of life)! I want to take as many people as possible to heaven when I go!

See Herbert Lockyer's biography for this trait and 3 more about THE MAN WHO WAS THE FIRST MISSIONARY.
