Mark 4:40: “And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?”

Paul writes, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but power, love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7) The spirit of fear always strives with mankind as the flesh is weak (Mat 26:41) for the desires of this world, and to make a sound judgment. (Mat 6:21,33) As we know it has controlled mankind from the beginning of creation when Adam and Eve sinned, and in fear hid from the Lord when He walked in the garden. (Gen 3:8) Fear may always be a part of our lives; it all depends on how we respond to our fear, and that matters the most. 

Fear brings in obstacles and causes doubt, just as Zechariah, whose faith was weak, wondered how would his wife bear a child at his old age. (Luke 1:18,20) John the Baptist, when he was imprisoned, sent his disciples to cross-check with Jesus whether he was the Messiah who was to come, as he was imprisoned by king Herod. (Luke 7:19) Throughout our lifetime, we all go through the experience of fear; it all depends on us to discern and walk in obedience. Jesus also went through it, for He called out, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” which helps us to understand to live in faith. Whatever circumstance we go through our heavenly Father has a purpose in our lives. 

The disciples, being told by the Lord Jesus, “Let’s go to the other side,” had to go through a storm, and they lost their faith and questioned Jesus. Then when he calmed the storm, they were being questioned by the Lord, “How is that you have no faith?” For they had seen the wonders that He did in their presence! At times fear may be before us because the Lord God comes to prove us. (Exo 20:20) Satan hinders us when God has a purpose in our lives, just as Paul went through. (Rom 1:13, 15:22)

1 Thes 2:18: Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
