When does God ever forgive suicide?

I would like to believe that God is merciful and understanding. I've suffered from severe depression most of my life. Recently I lost my son. To say that I'm devastated is an extreme understatement. I was once told that God doesn't forgive suicide and the thought of that puzzles me. I have a compassionate heart and understand that people want to escape the pain. I want to be able to see my son again. I don't want to further traumatize my family. What about all of those people who just couldn't take the pain anymore? Are their souls lost forever?

Dear Anonymous: This is a very sensitive topic, so I have prayed, and asked the Holy Spirit to guide me as I share with you. I believe that this is a question that no one is really able to answer. You do not need opinions, you need to know that God loves and cares about you. I agree that God is merciful, and the Bible reveals that Jesus our High Priest has been touched with the feeling of our infirmities. Hebrews 4:15.

I am not sure if you are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ or not, but there is hope for you. The Lord has compassion for your pain and all that you have experienced in your life.

I understand that some things are harder to bear than others. You have lost your son, and I can only imagine what that feels like, but God wants you to know how much He loves you and wants you to LIVE! There's nothing too hard for Him; neither is it impossible for Him to sustain you as you go through this very difficult time in your life.

Suicide is never the answer! The devil is deceiving you to believe that that's the only way to escape the pain, that you are a burden to your family, and they would be better off without you. That's a lie! Think about the devastating effects that it would cause to your loved ones. Now Satan has an advantage to destroy their lives, as well! The Lord Jesus Christ is the answer to all of our problems!

May I encourage you to cry out to God, and He will answer. He wants to demonstrate His power in your life, and He will help you to resist the temptation to take your own life.

I hope that what I have shared will make a difference in your life, and that you will want to live. It may not seem like it right now, but there's a purpose for all that you have gone through, and God can use it all for His Glory!

Love you to life!

I honestly don't have an answer for you. I just wanted you to know I am praying for you to find peace and comfort, and I will be thinking about you, and sending prayers up for you. I hope you find the answer you are looking for, and wish I could give it to you, but all I can do is pray and feel your pain because I also lost a son, but to a car accident. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said I’m not the judge, that is God’s job. He knows what the mental situation of the person. A person in their right mind would not do harm to themselves, and he himself, the lord God most high, has the last say on the matter.

All of our sins today were forgiven when Christ died on the cross. God only requires our belief in Christ being our savior, His finished cross work performed on our behalf, to accept His free gift of salvation.

This present evil world we live in is absolutely impossible to love, but we can find strength in knowing we have a savior in Jesus Christ upon our departure, and promise of reunion with our loved ones.

We today are appointed to God's grace, not wrath as in 'times past' and 'ages to come'. We find in the completed word of God the hope we need to know that believers will again see their loved ones and how much God truly does love us during His 'dispensation of grace'.

We are not being punished or rewarded, blessed or not with earthly blessings, or hearing from supernatural beings for guidance throughout our lives today. There was no longer a need for these things once God's word was completed. We today have spiritual blessings that give us our hope as we struggle through the most difficult times of our lives.

May peace, grace, and hope be with you.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
