According to Hislop's "The Two Babylons" which quotes 260 sources, the ancient Babylonian cult, started by Nimrod and his queen, Semiramis, spread among all nations, The objects of worship were the Supreme Father, the Incarnate Female, or Queen of Heaven, and her Son, The cult claimed the highest wisdom and the most divine secrets. Besides confession to priests there were many mysterious rites. Julius Caesar became head of the Roman branch of the Babylonian Cult in 63 B.C. Other emperors held the office until 376 A.D. when the emperor Gratian, for Christian reasons refused it because he saw that Babyonianism was idolatrous, Demasus, bishop of the Christian church at Rome, was elected to the headship in 378 A.D. and from here on Babylonianism and organized Christianity became one. The rites of Babylon were soon introduced into the Christian church. Heathen temples were restored, beautifed, and their riuals encouraged. Worship and veneration of images, saints, relics, private confessons, penances, scourgings, pilgrimages, sing ofhe cross, Christmas, Lady Day, Easter, Lent, and other pagn rites and fetivals, little by little, became a part of Christian worship

The Queen of Heaven is a pagan deity which was worshiped or prayed to, even long before the birth of Jesus.

Jer 7:18, "The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger."

Jer 44:15-27. 15 "Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying, 
16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. 
17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. 
18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. 
19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? 
20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, 
21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind? 
22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day. 
23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day. 
24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt: 
25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows. 
26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth. 
27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them."

This is idolatry.

Regrettably, the same IS still happening now, but, in characteristic fashion, the devil camouflages his real acts by putting an acceptable 'screen-saver', Mary.

And just as the Yisraelites refused to budge when warned by the prophet of God, so today people also refuse to budge.

There's really nothing new under the sun.

There is no Christian Queen of Heaven. The very name itself is of pagan origins. The practice is of pagan origins. And God has a response to the practice.

Artemis, Diana, Isis… even the name Columbia have been given to her. So many names and so many cultures over so many eons of time, but always representing fertility, beauty, liberty, sometimes war and, ultimately, that unique qualifier ascribed to her as the Queen of Heaven. Seems to be none other than Semiramis, wife of Nimrod, leader of the first great rebellion against God. Her story arose in Sumeria among the Chaldees, embellished in the so-called mythologies of the Greeks and Romans, then seemingly dead with the rise of the church in Rome, yet somehow went on secretly heralded through time via the activities of certain societies and their members.

Is she still worshiped today? It depends on how you define worship, I suppose. England has its druidic priesthood, which seems to include some of her most notable historic figures, such as former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, while America's highest officers have been found carrying on occult rituals at the Bohemian Grove, and most are Freemasons, whose rituals are obviously based upon the ancient worship of Horus, Isis, and Osiris. Many Protestant leaders have indicted the worship of Mary, (proclaimed the Queen of Heaven by the Roman Catholic Church), as yet another extension of this. The all seeing eye on our dollar bill and so many corporate logos, along with the 13 stars and a host of other symbols, all seem to indicate something is going on right beneath our noses.

Is it really all that hidden, though? The Freemasons of France gave us our Statue of Liberty, Columbia, along with the Washington Monument, which is nothing more than an Egyptian obelisk heralding back to this ancient form of worship. There are all those statues of the Queen of Heaven in the rotunda of the nation's capital, over the crust of its dome (symbolically her womb), and in statehouses around the country. They printed her image on our coins. And if that wasn't enough, they even constructed and continue to construct statues to the gods and goddesses of the Greeks, Romans, and others, in our city parks, and outside our courthouses. Monuments to whom?

Is it possible we participate in this worship, when we idolize beauty by dumping our money into excess clothing, cosmetics, and even needless surgeries? What about every time we sit down to watch a movie, and they set before us the image of Artemis (Columbia), or Osiris, or Orion at the very outset? How about if we, as individuals, go off to war in the name of liberty, without first God's will on the matter? Yes. I think she is still worshiped today. Most of us are blissfully unaware, while others are willing participants.

Ezekiel 8:9-18 provides a clear picture of the things being practiced in that prophet's day. Albeit those practices were in secret, God saw them and judged them as abominations, each worse than the other. These included Israel's leadership worshiping the creatures of the earth and celestial bodies, while burning incense, women weeping for Tammuz, and men bowing down toward the east. These were all characteristics of the religion of Nimrod and his wife Semiramis's day, and ultimately became known as Bal worship to the Jews. However, we should understand this as all ancient forms of Sun God worship, including Jupiter, Zeus, Mithra, Osiris, Isis, Artemis, Diana, etc.

That which is practiced in secret, God promises, will be judged openly. Ecc 12:14. There is no way to fool God, and the continuing practice of such things by our leaders will certainly bring judgment, and, without repentance it will surely fall in God's chosen time. In the meantime, Christians must be careful to avoid all such activities, no matter how private or innocuous they may seem.

Jesus is King. (thumbs up)

The thing is, Jesus is a Jew. And Jewish kings rule with Jewish queens. Now the Jewish Queen, unlike modern monarchs, is not the wife of the king, but the mother of the king. She is also called Queen Mother. see Jeremiah 13:18

Interestingly, the authority of the queen is bestowed upon her by the king. Everyone bows to the king. However, in 1 Kings 2:19, Solomon bows to Bathsheba, not because of her authority, but because of filial homage, and makes her sit on a throne at his right hand. He bestows her honor, as commanded by God in Exodus 20:12, "honor your father and your mother." 

Therefore, it follows that if Jesus, Son of David, King of Kings, is King of Heaven, then the obvious Queen of Heaven is no one but his mother, Mary.

She may very well be the Assyro-Babylonian goddess Ishtar (Jr 7:18; 44:17). She was the goddess of sexual love and fertility. The Babylonians called her Ishtar. Worshipping Ishtar involved cult prostitution. At least part of the practice of worshipping this goddess included cult prostitution. Her worship included abominable obscenities (Jr 44:17-19, 25). 

The Greeks called her Aphrodite.

In ancient times the word queen applied to the wife of a king. In this sense, Mary, as the “queen of heaven” is a grammatically incorrect title since she wasn’t married to the “king of heaven.” It appears that this misunderstanding originates with Rev 12 where John sees a wonder in heaven of a woman clothed with the sun with the moon at her feet and a crown of 12 stars. The subsequent verses seem to follow the life of Mary on earth as a guide to prophetic events in the future.

If Christ is or will become the king of heaven, will he have a wife? The answer is yes, many wives (on a spiritual basis). These are the women who become the Bride of the Lamb at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Rev 19:7-9). They will share crown authority with Christ as queens of heaven (and also in the kingdom on earth). The Bride is not the church, since men don’t marry men, and a son doesn’t marry his mother. Men will participate to a limited degree in the symbol of the Lamb of God as younger brethren of the first born Christ, and also share crown authority with him. Together with Christ they form the brotherhood (1 Pet 2:17) and all take up their cross to follow him (Matt 6:24). Women were not free in the same way since they were always under the authority of their father or husband in ancient Israel.

As Vincent has pointed out, the mother of a king in ancient Israel had an unusually high status, explaining why his mother was significantly mentioned upon gaining the throne. The final spiritual status of Mary isn’t clearly mentioned in scripture, but it is possible it could be higher than even the wives of the Lamb, similarly as the elders (Rev 4:4) may have a higher status than those gaining crown authority later from the Lamb.
