The only people who do not recycle are people who aren't wiliing to do the extra work to recycle. "Waste not want not" was a phrase that I grew up with. My parents lived through two world wars and a depression. They learned out of necessity and voluntarily supporting the war effort not to waste. But shouldn't we all not waste as good stewards of God's many blessings? Why would God bless us with better if were not willing to take care of what we have now? I believe that if you appreciate the smallest of blessings, God showers us with greater ones. I asked my bible study group, "What are a few simple things how we can prove we love our neighbors?" One was bagging our trash so it doesn't blow all over the neighborhood. Another was picking up trash in our neighbor's yard as well as our own. Isn't recycling just another way of loving our neighbors and even generations to come?

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, God Asks Us to Take Care of His Creation This verse shows God's commandment for man to be part of the environment and to care for it. Isaiah and Jeremiah prophesied about the dire consequences that occur when man fails to take care of the environment and disobeys God. Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'" (NIV) Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God gave mankind dominion over the earth but not in order to use or misuse it at any cost for any this earth must groan under the weight of the ravaging and pillaging of the planet. In conclusion, God commands us to keep and care for the earth but God’s edict to have dominion over the earth doesn’t mean to have complete domination and exploitation of it but sadly, this is what has happened; we continue to rape the land, denude the forests, strip-mine the hills, burn through the resources, and gut the earth. This is the only place that we have and if we chose to abuse it, it will be a choice we will live to regret. My family has always recycled: we save or have saved plastics, # 1 and 2, aluminum cans rinsed, newspaper, copper, brass, iron, wood, and plastic grocery or store bags, and cardboard. We have a once-a-week free pick-up here in our township.
