It’s a scientific fact that a peaceful heart leads to a healthy body, as well as a spiritual one. Having a peaceful heart promotes low stress and anxiety, which, in turn, gives you better health. Proverbs 14:30 (NLT) says, “A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body;…” Being content with what we have keeps the heart and mind at peace. Here are several scriptures that refer you to this subject: Proverbs 13:14, Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 4:6-8, and 1 Peter 5:7.

In around 2000 we published in the Int. J. Stress Management about 2 peer reviewed articles showing that chronic stress in humans resulted in increased free radical generation which in turn decreased immunity. At the end of this research over years, came to mind the proverb “ A cheerful heart does.good like medicine”. God is always way ahead of us in all aspects of life, praise His mighty name.

Isaiah 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

When the eye of the heart is stayed (focused) on the Lord, His perfect peace stills the souls and floods the heart. David was a man after God’s own heart, for the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart and commanded him to be the captain over his people, (1 Sam 13:14). King Saul, who was chosen before David, was more of a men pleaser and wanted to be honored before men. (1 Sam 15:24,30) Having a peaceful heart does not lead one to stress and anxiety, but leads to a healthy body and perfect peace. (Proverbs 14:30)

David set his mind at all times with the Lord, for he was aware that God was in control of his life, for he set his faith in the Lord as he said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistines.” (1 Sam 17:37) His faith pleased God. Though he was not perfect, he knew he sinned; he always prayed for repentance (Psalm 51:1-2) and confessed that he had sinned as he said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan said to him, “The Lord also has put away your sin you shall not die.” (2 Sam 12:13)

For those whose mind is stayed on the Lord, God leads him to enter the door to be saved, for then he shall go in and out of the door for his pasture. (John 10:9) A person in perfect peace shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, always yielding fruit and to be blessed, for he has set his mind on the Lord. (Jer 17:8) For then shall He pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground, and He shall pour His Spirit upon thy seed and His blessings upon thine offspring. (Isa 44:3)

Psalm 55:18: He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many against me.
