Why will God not give His glory to another (Isaiah 42:8)?
Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.

ESV - 1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. 2 He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street.

In Exodus 33:18 Moses sought a new vision for his new task. He asked, rather beseeched, God to show him His glory. God replied that He would make His goodness pass before Moses, and that He would have mercy and be gracious to whomever He chose. In this passage, (Isaiah 42:1-9) it is obvious that Jesus is God's Glory. The divine essence of God, in His triune Person, had never been seen by a human being, until Jesus Our Lord walked upon the earth. God in His veiled angelic form had been seen. God was incarnate in God's Only Begotten Son Jesus. He was full of Grace, and mercy. John 10:28, 29: "And I will give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My father which gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand." (Jesus said) Who are they that were given to Him? I would say that they are believers in Jesus, the Glory of God revealed to us. In Isaiah's time, Jesus had not yet come to earth. Revelation 22:4: "And they shall see His Face and His Name shall be in their foreheads." Jude 1: "To them that are sanctified by God the Father and preserved in Jesus Christ and called." Those who accept God's Glory visible in Jesus will one day see God in all His Glory. His triune essence will be plainly visible because of faith.
