What is the meaning of "my brethren" in the parable of sheep and goats in Matthew 25:31-46?

ESV - 31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

I would say that, by this term, Jesus was referring to any humans (not just fellow believers (Matthew 5:46-48)) for whom the redeemed performed their acts of charity in His name, by virtue of the true human nature that He shared with them.
