The most striking prophecy can be found in Daniel 2:37-45 where God showed Nebuchadnezzar the political future of the world. The head of gold was Babylon, which was defeated by Medo-Persia (the breast/arm of silver) which was defeated by Greece (the belly/thighs of brass), which was defeated by Rome (the legs of iron), Rome which turned into the divided nations of Europe (the feet and toes of iron mixed with clay). The only part of this prophecy that is yet to be fulfilled is the stone (Christ) that will break into pieces the statue and set up His everlasting kingdom (Dan 2:45). In Daniel 9:24-27 we find the 70-week prophecy which points to the 1st coming of Christ, His death, and the ceasing of temple animal sacrifice. Gabriel tells Daniel that 70 weeks are decreed for Israel and for the holy city (Dan 9:24). To unlock this prophecy, we need some basic history and arithmetic. In Bible prophecies, God established the day-for-a-year principle (Eze 4:6; Num 14:34), thus 70 weeks times 7 equals 490 days, which represents 490 prophetic years. Gabriel then tells that from the going out of the decree to restore and build Jerusalem until the coming of Christ, there shall be 7 weeks and 62 weeks (Dan 9:25). So, seven weeks plus 62 weeks equals 69 weeks, or 483 days (483 years). After the 62 weeks, Christ shall be cut off (Dan 9:26). The final week of the prophecy says that, “He shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week He shall put an end to sacrifice and offering.” (Daniel 9:27) Then in the middle of the last week, (or three and a half years), the sacrifice and offerings will cease. From the Bible and from history, we know that the decree to rebuild Jerusalem was given in the 7th year of Artaxerxes, which is the year 457 B.C. (Ezra 7:7) So from 457 B.C. to Christ, are 69 weeks (483 days or 483 years) which brings us to the year A.D. 27, the year Jesus was baptized. And we are left with the last week, or the last seven years. In the middle of the week, or three and half years later, (year A.D. 31), the sacrifice and offering ended. When Jesus died (the anointed one was “cut off” in A.D. 31), the veil in the temple was torn top to bottom (Matt. 27:51; Mark 15:38), signifying the end of the sacrifice and offering because all pointed to Jesus’ sacrifice, which had been fulfilled. Furthermore, it is said that He (Christ), shall make a strong covenant with many for one week (Dan 9:27), the last week, which ended in 34 A.D. with the stoning of Stephen (Acts 7), and the gospel now going to Gentiles as well as Jews. So in short, there are 70 prophetic weeks - 69 of the 70 take us to Jesus' baptismal and beginning of His ministry. In the middle of the last week, or three and a half years, Jesus was crucified, and the prophecy is fulfilled.

The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. or from the King James Version (KJV) Daniel Chapter 9: 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 1. Rebuilding the city of Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25) 2. Then the people endured "troublous times" (Dan 9:25) 3. "Messiah the Prince" triumphantly enters Jerusalem (calculating from March 14, 445 BC) on April 6, 32 AD 4. Messiah cut off (Christ is crucified) Daniel 9:26 THAT'S IT.
