How could Jesus experience EVERY human temptation? (Hebrews 4:15)
Hebrews 4:14-15 "... 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in EVERY way, just as we are—yet he did not sin."

Jesus experienced every type of human temptation when Satan tempted Him, described in Matthew 4:1-10, and Luke 4:1-12. The three temptations describe three different types of temptations to which Jesus was submitted. The threefold temptations were the same things John described in I John 2:16. These are three components of the anti-God world, that Satan rules over. These are “all that is in the world.” Combining these with the temptations Jesus went through, it can be charted this way: Changing stones to bread – pertains to the ‘the lust of the flesh.’ Casting Himself down from pinnacle of temple – pertains to ‘the pride of life.’ Receiving kingdoms by worshiping Satan – pertains to ‘the lust of the eyes.’ No area was exempted, and no part of the human entity was excluded. Every major type of temptation was thrown at the Lord. Through this experience, He was found perfect and sinless. He did not sin, and, because of that, He was qualified to serve, to teach, to heal, and to save. After the temptation, He immediately began His ministry. Furthermore, the Lord reversed the curse that Adam and Eve caused by their succumbing to temptation in the same three areas: Tree good for food – pertains to “the lust of the flesh.” Tree pleasant to the eyes – pertains to “the lust of the eyes.” Tree desirable to make one wise – pertains to “the pride of life.” Only Jesus could be our Savior and our high priest.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points [things] tempted like as we are, yet without sin. I often wondered what this meant when I was young. Regarding the phrase "in all things" Ryrie comments that… Not that Christ experienced every temptation man does, but rather that He was tempted in all areas in which man is tempted (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, 1John 2:16), and with particular temptations specially suited to Him. This testing was possible only because He took the likeness of sinful flesh (Rom. 8:3), for had there not been an incarnation, Jesus could not have been tempted (cf. James 1:13). Had there not been a first Christmas, Jesus could not have been tempted. "All things - No exceptions. Any and every temptation you have ever experienced, our Lord has already experienced.
