Was the antichrist already at work in Genesis?

Genesis 3:1 - 24

ESV - 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'? 2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden.

My understanding is that the cited passage from Genesis is speaking of Satan after his fall from heaven. The antichrist is a separate being who will not appear until the end times. The specific term "antichrist" is found only in the epistles of the apostle John (1 John 2:18; 1 John 2:22; 1 John 4:3; 2 John 7). The main characteristic of the antichrist (as the name implies) is denial or non-acknowledgement of Jesus as God incarnate, which would not have been possible until after His appearance on earth.

Although there has been (as indicated by John) a spirit of antichrist active in the world since biblical times, in the end times, a specific man will arise to oppose Christ and His followers more than anyone else in history. He will likely proclaim himself as the true Messiah, and will seek world domination, while also attempting to destroy all followers of Christ, as well as the nation of Israel.

Jesus described him in Mark 13:14 as being the king who would set up the "abomination of desolation" in the temple in Jerusalem (in fulfillment of Daniel 9:27).

Other biblical references or prophecies pertaining to this individual (although not referring to him by the specific term "Antichrist") can be found in Daniel 7, Daniel 9, and 1 Thessalonians 2. (The passage from 1 Thessalonians refers to him as "the man of lawlessness".) He is also symbolically identified with the rider on the white horse in Revelation 6, and the first beast (the one from the sea) in Revelation 13. His ultimate fate (as described in Revelation 19) will consist of being thrown into the lake of everlasting fire, where he will spend all eternity in torment.

The serpent in Genesis 3 is Satan.

In Ezekiel 28:13, "Thou hast been in Eden...every precious stone was thy covering. Verse 14, thou art the annointed cherub. Verse 16... thou hast sinned. Verse 17, thy heart was lifted up because of thy beauty. Thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of brightness...

Isaiah 14:12-14, "How art thou fallen from heaven...thou hast said in thy heart, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God."

The serpent in the Edenic form was unlike what we think of as a snake. What we see is the result of the curse..of sin. The reptile in Genesis was beautiful and subtle. A trace of that is seen in the grace exhibited in serpents today.

The serpent became a tool for Satan when he fell to the earth from heaven. God has employed him as an illustration of the effects of sin in nature.

In the serpent, Satan first appeared as an"angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:14.

1 John 4: 3,4 - "Every spirit (human) that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of Antichrist which you have heard was coming and is now already in the world. You are of God little children, and have overcome them because He that is in you is greater that He that is in the world"

Antichrist - 1 John 2:22, "Who is a liar, but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ. He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son."

Antichrist will be a very suave human being. People will be drawn to him/her.

Notice in Genesis that the serpent twisted God's words! He did not deny God! Satan is the Father of all lies! John 8:44

Job 1, Satan still has access to heaven. BUT God is in control...the anti Christ will be a human being. He/she will be used by Satan. Remember Satan is roaming the earth seeking whom he may devour. Indeed there have been many anti Christ's on earth, and will be more.

2 Thessalonians 2:8-10, " And then shall that wicked one be revealed, when the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming: even him whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders."

Daniel 9:27. Matthew 24:11,12
