There is no longer any food or race of people that are unclean according to Acts 10:11 thru 15 "He [Peter] saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners. In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds. Then a voice said to him, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.” “No, Lord,” Peter declared. “I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean. But the voice spoke again: “Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.”

The voice was God declaring that all foods and all people are no longer unclean as He commanded in the Old Testament. The Old Testament is now obsolete and no longer binding upon the Christian now that God has ushered in the New Testament. The only OT laws that are still binding are those that can be found in the New Testament which is why Christians celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the first day of the week Sunday rather than from Friday at sundown until Saturday at sundown which is the Jewish Sabbath.

I have a Jewish nephew who explicitly follows the OT laws his rabbi tells him he must follow. He can't eat cheesburgers, pork, shrimp, catfish or lobster ever, and on the Sabbath he can't flip a light switch, push any button, drive an automobile, answer the telephone, walk any further than 1 mile, or write anything down.

Genesis 1:11 God declares food from trees, herbs and seeds are all good for food.

Genesis 9:3, declares every moving thing and everything green is food. One exception, do not eat flesh with its blood.

Interestingly potatoes do produce seeds. When grown in cooler climate with long days, potato seed can be seen on plants. These conditions cause the plants to"fruit."

Some types of potatoes, particularly Yukon gold, produce more fruit than others. The seed pod or berry is referred to as true potato seed. 

There are potatoes called seed potatoes. These are tumors/roots that are used to grow potatoes. 

In the "nightshade" family there is a potato plant that makes green fruits (berries). It is inedible, toxic.

God must have known we would enjoy french fries!

If you look at Mark 7:19 you will see that Jesus has made ALL foods clean. "Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?"

Potatoes are root vegetables. In Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 are listed foods that God created clean and suitable for human consumption, as well as unclean foods which God created for other purposes and are considered an abomination, not suitable for human consumption (Isaiah 66:17). 

As far as I can tell, there are no vegetables deemed unclean anywhere in the Bible, only certain water and land creatures have this designation. 

Some believe that the clean/unclean foods commandant was given only for the Jews – however, way before there were any Jews on earth, God made a clear distinction between clean and unclean creatures and instructed Noah to take into the ark seven pairs of clean land animals and only one pair of unclean (Gen 7:2). 

Moreover, in Acts 10 several years after Jesus’ death, Peter has a vision in which God tells him to kill and eat unclean creatures. This was only a dream and obviously, no animals were harmed during this vision. 

After spending 3.5 years with Christ, Peter was stunned by God's request and unaware that unclean creatures were made clean: “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.” (Acts 10:14). Only in Acts 10:28 does Peter understands that the vision was not about food but people: “but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.”
