What did Jesus mean when he said, "night cometh when no man can work" in John 9:4?
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 9:1 - 41

In my opinion, Jesus was equating "day" with the lifespan that God grants to each human (and particularly to Christians), with "night" being the ending of that lifespan through each person's death. While we are living on this earth, we must avail ourselves of every opportunity that God makes available to us to witness to our faith through service to Him and to our "neighbors" (our fellow humans), particularly in bringing them to faith in Christ, so that they may receive eternal life in His presence. After either of us (that is, ourselves or any of our neighbors) are no longer living, that opportunity will be forever lost.
