As Paul indicated in Romans 1, God gave a clear witness of His existence and nature in His creation, as well as in what C. S. Lewis called the universal law of nature in the human heart and conscience, which should have led all of humanity to recognize Him, worship Him, and obey the dictates of His law. However, because of sin, humans universally turned away from Him. It was thus up to God to reveal Himself to humanity, as well as to bridge the separation between Himself and humanity created by sin, as He did in the Old and New Testaments, which proclaim Him throughout as the one and only true God.

Any religion (including non-orthodox sects within Christianity) that is rooted in human thought, or that claims some sort of extra-human revelation that contradicts the Bible or that purports to replace or be equal in authority to the Bible, may have some valid philosophical or behavioral insights, but is of no value with respect to obtaining eternal life in God's presence, which was God's original intent and desire for humans when He created them.

I heartily recommend C. S. Lewis' short book Mere Christianity to anyone interested in this question. It is fully viewable online at http://www.ntslibrary.com/PDF%20Books/Mere%20Christianity%20-%20Lewis.pdf
