Acts 16:13-15, "After a few days in this city we went outside the gates beside a river as it was the Sabbath and it was the customary place for prayer. We sat down and preached to the women who had come to the meeting. One of these women was called Lydia, a woman from the town of Thyatira who was in the purple-dye trade, and revered God. She listened to us, and the Lord opened her heart to accept what Paul was saying. After she and her household had been baptized she kept urging us, 'If you judge me a true believer in the Lord,' she said, 'Come and stay with us.' And she would take no refusal."

In Luke 1:57- 70, we read of John the baptist's baptism. Verse 67, this prophecy was spoken: “...and proclaimed by the mouth of his holy prophets from ancient times, that He should save us from our enemies and from the hands of all those who hate us.”

You see, it is spoken and we receive it by hearing, then the seed of faith grows in our hearts. Even Lydia was loved by God, but when she heard, God opened her heart to believe, to trust God.

Romans 10:17: "But it is in that way faith comes from hearing, and that means hearing the word of Christ."

Titus 2:11-13: God's grace has been revealed to the whole human race. It is by this grace that we hear, and see that we wait in hope for the blessings yet to come.

Hebrews 11: Only faith can guarantee the blessings that we hope for. As we meditate on God's words we come to understand.

Are we listening? Are we hearing? He speaks through His Words in the Bible.

We believe the bible is the word of God. John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. The best news in all the world.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, First John 1:8, and we all die, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A favorite verse. First John 5:13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.

If you have eternal life today, we will still have eternal life 1,000 years from now because God can not lie. John 10:28-29.

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me HATH everlasting life. Present tense. You can not lose everlasting life or it would not be eternal life.

The bible grows the faith of the believer. God’s word increases our faith. John 3:18. Once we believe the gospel, First Corinthians 15:1-4 we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 reveals that we are created with three parts: spirit, soul, and body. The spirit operates independently of the soul (mind) and the body. In fact, Galatians 5:17 tells us that the spirit and the flesh (the carnal nature of the soul and body) actually war against each other. We were slaves to that nature before receiving Jesus. Jesus sets us free from our sinful nature.

Hebrews 4:12 shows us that the Word is alive and active. It is Jesus in spoken and written form (John 1). Being alive, the Word impacts both the spirit and the soul. Not knowing any of this when I began reading the Word daily, I have experienced that even when my mind is void of understanding (e.g., names I fail to pronounce correctly), my spirit is still being impacted unbeknownst to me.

As the Word strengthens the spirit, it begins to "rule" over the fleshly nature that negatively affects our minds. When the human spirit in Christ controls the soul, that state is called "faith." For faith to live (James 2:26), the converted spirit must influence the soul to make decisions that utilize the body to bear fruit to the glory of God. Even though we are free in Christ to choose the right path, the flesh nature will beckon us to sin if we are not staying in the Word. The Word is the means by which the flesh is crucified (Galatians 5:24). It manifests heightened discernment, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge because it is the Ultimate Truth.

People who ignore the Word cannot see and understand God and His plan for mankind. As the least-read bestseller of all time, the Bible IS the secret to attaining one's best life. It is, in a sense, hidden in plain sight because the carnal flesh and the enemy of our souls will do everything possible to keep us away from It.

I was saved at seven years old. I was then in a backslidden condition from my teens until the age of 34. At that age, I started reading the Word daily. It IS the most crucial discipline in my life. I am now 60 years old, and to God's glory, I have probably read and studied the Bible over 30 times. But I have digested it more than that through countless sermons and devotionals (from others and my own), books, worship songs, etc. Grab hold of God's Word, and don't let go! Know that It IS affecting you in good ways you might not immediately see or understand. You won't be disappointed!

We get to know God fully through His word. Basically scripture reveals His love for us through:
1. The beauty of His creation.
2. His son Jesus Christ who is love and showed His love for us.
3. His Sacrifice on Calvary for our sins so that we now have salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
4. Prophecies from God so we can know the blessings and warnings for life which lie ahead.

In short scripture is a letter from God to us which continually exhibits His enduring love for us. It is His love letter to us.
